It is a family team or a
“parental-peer” team like. It just unravels into
the world of a street child and identifies with
the child and shares the world of a child. It
helps the child to come away from the tendency
of “street – addiction”. The team prepares the
child either to go home or to choose a
rehabilitation program available in Navajeevan.
If a child wants to be integrated with his/her
family, a team member accompanies the child. The
team so far has integrated 7666 children with
their parents
The children who were rescued
from the streets and children who are in various
stages of the rehabilitative process are
counseled on a regular basis. It is usually to
the counselors that children reveal why they
have left home, how long they have been on the
street and what brought them to the shelter. It
is also the counselors who learn from the
children what kinds of support they need,
whether they are willing to go home, and if so,
what preparation of the family is necessary. The
parents of the child are contacted counseled and
prepared to accept the child back into the
family.
