The first priority of Navajeevan
is to integrate the child with the family as
early as possible. On few occasions, even if
children are prepared to go home after many
sessions of counseling, the Home re-integration
team is not able to contact their parents due to
incorrect addresses provided by them, or,
sometimes, children do not want parents to come
to shelter and take them. Many a time, they
prefer the team members to accompany them and
act as intermediaries. Often, especially in case
of older child, s/he has become ?missing? child
down the years as s/he has only a very vague
memory of home and cannot recollect the home
address.
The Home integration process is taken up at any
stage of the child's stay in Navajeevan.
Counseling acts as a bridge for home integrating
the child back to his naturally acquired living
abode, that is his/her parents

NJBB and
like-minded groups -- with support from UNICEF
and Government of India - have also developed a
website for registering, tracing, contacting and
home integrating children anywhere in the
country (www.missingchildsearch.net).
