Navajeevan reaches out to the young at risk through its presences on
the streets and in areas where children on the
street and child trafficking are most visible.
Teams of full timers and volunteers establish
contacts with the young as early as possible and
"rescue" them from "risks". The earlier a child
is identified and removed, easier and more
successful the rehabilitation. The teams also
persuade hardcore street addicts to come to the
shelter homes.
The Street Presence Team of Navajeevan,
Vijayawada aims at establishing contact with as
many street children in the city as possible in
order to rescue, protect and rehabilitate them
in consultation with the children. A recent
survey conducted by the ‘Form for Child Rights’
shows that there are about 1137 old children on
the street of Vijayawada and a survey
conducted by the ‘Street Presence’ team of
Navajeevan Bala Bhavan has shown the astonishing
fact that about 27 fresh children everyday
arrive to Vijayawada Railway station;
