Auto Nagar (where BVK operates) is one of the
biggest auto mobile estates in the country. In
just 275 acres, of land , the estate had 4880
units , comprising of auto mobile serving,
re-boring, mechanical shops , blacksmiths,
tinkering, fuel injection calibrates, carpentry,
auto electrician, etc. these apart , there are
other units of rubber slippers manufacturing,
steel polishing, way side tea stalls and other
shops catering the needs of the work force.
Navajeevan had a well knitted team at BVK to
rescue the children found working at the
different units.
To
eradicate this demeaning treatment to children,
the staff in collaboration with local government
had conducted rescue operations, when only a few
children had attended the work. The employers
were imposed fine and stringent warning. As the
parents of the children have a few contracts
with the employers, it was often difficult to
act tough on the employers, but constant
motivation and awareness campaigns have seemed
to be holding sway long term results.
