Prerana & Velugu are conducted together in the Children's Village "Chiguru".

These camps are conducted for a period of one month or a little longer depending on how the children respond to various programs in the camp and learn to be more stable and inculcate a better behaviour. The number of children in each camp ranges from 25 to some times 30 children.

Children are motivated to move away from the street life. Each camp lasts for 30days. The maximum capacity of the camp is 30 children.

PRERANA is the reorientation camp for street children below the age of 10 years. The word Prerana means "Motivation" 

VELUGU is the reorientation camp for street children between the age of 11-14 years. the word Velugu means "Light"

 

 

of the children attending these camps:

  • 37% of children would be home placed either during the camp or after the completion of the camp,

  • 8% of drop outs are expected as an average in a year

  • 55% of children are placed either in Institutional care or in vocational trainings
