How Can I help

The Orientation Camp “Vimukthi” suggests two activities, viz. Re-orientation camp cum de-addiction program for senior street children aging between 15 to 18/19 years. In most of the surveys conducted by NBB, it was revealed that many of the senior street children are addicted to drug abuse, addiction to street life, unhealthy sexual life, etc. As most of these features are common among the senior street children, it was opined by NBB to hold the camp program separately in conducive environment for their growth and betterment.

Packed with various lively programs, very much participatory in nature and jostled with group dynamics, group counselling, de-toxification treatment [in collaboration with physician and psychologist from the nearby Hospital], - the camp promises much scope to ‘focus’ and introspect their own lives and with the friendly guidance of the staff look towards future with confidence, by encouraging his skills to settle in life as responsible and upright citizens.

10 De-addiction Camps in a year, each lasting one month for a group of 25 – 30 substance addicted children who are found willing to join de-addiction programme, in order to help them to be away from peer pressures and other situations that lead to substance abuse, and to regain their self-esteem and self-determination through necessary emotional support and individual counselling and group therapy sessions.

During this period, the children are trained to have the necessary Life Skills that enable individuals to deal with the demands and challenges of everyday life.  They include decision-making, problem solving, creative thinking, effective communication, interpersonal relationships, self-awareness, empathy, coping with emotions and stress.

The de-addiction camp is located 48 kms away from the main city surrounded by serene and green pastures. The residence is located in the mists of fully-grown mango grottos that spread across 25 acres of land. Being away from the city, the availability of drugs and other substances are almost nil at the same time, being in the mist of green pastures and mango grotto, keep these kids concentrate on building up their broken psyche.
